about wfic
Wing Foil Instructors of Canada (WFIC) is a national initiative dedicated to setting the standard for recreational wing foil instruction across the country. Founded in Whistler, BC, WFIC exists to support the sport’s explosive growth by providing structured, safe, and professional instructor training.
Starting in Whistler, our goal is to expand to certified training centres across Canada—serving lakes, rivers, and coastal communities with consistent, high-quality instruction programs.
Mission
We empower skilled riders to become certified instructors, ensuring that new participants receive high-quality, consistent instruction—no matter where they learn. Our focus is recreational, not competitive, with an emphasis on safety, progression, and community-building on the water.
Vision
We envision a future where every wing foil student in Canada learns from a certified instructor, and every certified instructor feels confident, prepared, and part of a growing national network.

Why WFIC?
Wing foiling is one of the fastest-growing watersports in the world. But with rapid growth comes the need for structure. WFIC fills that gap by offering the first nationally standardized training pathway for Canadian instructors. Our curriculum is built on internationally recognized best practices and adapted to local conditions.
“The WFIC program gave me the structure and confidence I needed to start teaching. It’s a huge step forward for wing foiling in Canada.”
“Finally, a national standard for recreational wing foil instruction. The curriculum is clear, practical, and built for real conditions.”
